A Word About The Blog

Being that it’s been a month since my last post, or something along those lines, I’ve had ideas running through my head constantly. Especially since my life is so different now, having left the training base and joined the battalion, there are about a million things I could write. The world is my oyster, as they say.

However, my intention has been to finish this blog, not write any more, after advanced training. After all, what can I say about the actual work I’ll be doing? What would I write about checkpoints and guard duty, ambushes and operations? It works out perfectly that this blog is a documentation of the path to becoming an IDF infantry soldier, and that is all.

But then again, I have so much I want to write! I have zero desire to write, I am tired, and I don’t really care at the moment to spend my little free time writing, but I do have things to share. So, I think the only responsible thing I can do is leave this blog open to my whims. I tend to do things 100% or not at all, and it goes against my instincts to just write when I feel like it instead of regularly – but it’s best for all of us, no?

My recommendation is that you sign up on the right to receive new posts by email, since they could very well be extremely irregular.

A new post will be coming out in the next day or two...

Hello

I think you should keep blogging. You still have a story to tell, about being an oleh, about joining the army, about your life. That's the point of a blog -- telling your story.

Just make sure you don't get in trouble with any kabat person.

Yeah, well when you're on base for 2 or 3 weeks and then get a day and a half at home and then back for 2 weeks... it's not so easy to write! And, I'm shomer Shabbat, so I don't have any time really.

But yeah, I'm very clear about operational stuff: I just don't write about it. Look through this blog and try to find anything real, anything about what we actually do. You'll find loads on wikipedia and youtube - none here!

Honestly, I think not only is your blog fun to read but it is a great resource to use against those who would dehumanize Americans and Israelis.

Peace

Hey Danny, I think you should do whatever the heck you want with your blog, and I totally understand the not having the energy to write thing.

That being said, I agree with Sallust up there. You could do an enormous amount of good, as an active soldier, talking about stuff the way you do. I don't mean operations, I just mean your opinions.

And I'll admit, I'm interested to hear that things are still going alright for you.

I love reading your blog. When I speak with Marcus, our conversations are usually rushed and short. I feel like I get to know what's happening in his life through you and your blog. Know that your efforts are appreciated. I have you both in my prayers daily. Stay safe.
