The process begins by the handle being released, which creates a spark and ignites the primer, which then travels through a chemical delay (slow burning chemical) which then ignites the main explosive charge. But yeah, it's just a few seconds. I'm not going to say exactly how many, don't know if I'm allowed to, but it's a matter of seconds, not split seconds.
