In Israel with a sense of community, I think you can do almost anything.

Can't stand Qatamon,...so of course I'll probably end up living there,...temporarily, of course.

Don't EVEN get me started on Nahla'ot! < eyes rolling >

I'm a pretty intollerant bastard, aren't I? ;)Ben-Yehudahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12853681733864707489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8554337268732390744.post-27952515559943615852008-03-19T02:02:00.000+02:002008-03-19T02:02:00.000+02:00Yeah, it's the Sephardi ghetto. In the sense that...Yeah, it's the Sephardi ghetto. In the sense that only Sephardim live here, and the sense that it is poor. It is really poor, as in this is also the area that most of Jerusalem's Ethiopian live in. Not that there is anything wrong with Ethiopians. I like them more than most sabras. They just tend to be on the poorer side of the Israeli spectrum - fact.

Katamon is an American ghetto, just like Mea Shaarim is a religious ghetto, just like Nahalot is becoming a young hippish/yuppy ghetto -- I guess in the sense that a neighborhood has its reputation and style.

I don't mind Katamon or Baka, those areas where the Americans - Anglos live. I'm not living there, but hey, at least I could go there and get a Dr. Pepper if I so desired!Danny Brothershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03372641972664155753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8554337268732390744.post-33339009620274867632008-03-19T00:15:00.000+02:002008-03-19T00:15:00.000+02:00Hmmm...I wonder what you mean by ghetto. When I say ghetto in Israel it generally means an English-speaking [and sometimes obnoxiously trendy] neighborhood like Qatamon.Ben-Yehudahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12853681733864707489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8554337268732390744.post-62294945059644897522008-03-18T13:52:00.000+02:002008-03-18T13:52:00.000+02:00Katamonim, Tzomet Pat.The ghetto.Katamonim, Tzomet Pat.

The ghetto.Danny Brothershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03372641972664155753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8554337268732390744.post-42085522241907797582008-03-17T00:46:00.000+02:002008-03-17T00:46:00.000+02:00B"HUm,...Dude?!
